On June 3–4, 2025, the 17th Scientific and Technical Committee (STC17) of the Pelagos Agreement took place in Riomaggiore, within the Cinque Terre National Park. The meeting was a key moment for presenting and discussing the preliminary results of the scientific studies initiated within the Sanctuary, aimed at deepening knowledge of the area and supporting effective measures for the conservation of cetaceans and their habitat.

These scientific activities, carried out in collaboration with experts and research centers from the three signatory countries of the Agreement (France, Italy, and the Principality of Monaco), represent a crucial step toward shared management based on up-to-date and rigorous data. The final results will be integrated into the future management tools of the Sanctuary, with the goal of strengthening conservation efforts in a Mediterranean area that is unique in its biodiversity and ecological value.
