The Management Plan 2022-2027 (MOP8, December 15-16, 2022, Rome) formally recognizes the key role of all stakeholders in the Pelagos Sanctuary and proposes a new participatory, inclusive and democratic approach to its management.

“A Sanctuary which belongs to everybody and for everybody” implies shared responsibilities.

PATRONAGE

Are you a promoter of a project or event related to marine mammals and the threats they face in the Pelagos Sanctuary?

To request the sponsorship and the use of the Pelagos Agreement logo, we invite you to fill out the form in French or Italian and send it to the Permanent Secretariat at the following address: secretariat@pelagossanctuary.org at least two months before the start of the project or the event.

Attention! The Permanent Secretariat of the Pelagos Agreement is the only authorized institution to grant the sponsorship and the use of the Pelagos logo on behalf of the three Parties to the Agreement.

HOW TO BEHAVE WHEN OBSERVING A MARINE MAMMAL

In order to avoid any disturbance, the observed animals should be approached as discreetly as possible. It is recommended to respect the provisions indicated in the ACCOBAMS/Pelagos Code of Good Conduct and to contribute to their dissemination and use among other boaters.

MONK SEAL OBSERVATION

The Monk Seal is a rarely observed species in the Pelagos Sanctuary

In the event of a Monk seal observation, please fill out the form below to help us record the sightings.

What can I do as a sea user?

BECOME A PELAGOS AMBASSADOR:

Are you a sea user and want to contribute to the protection of marine mammals in the Pelagos Sanctuary and promote the objectives of the Agreement? Do you follow the provisions of the ACCOBAMS/Pelagos Code of Good Conduct and advocate for them when sailing in the Sanctuary?

What can I do as a Municipality?

BECOME A SIGNATORY MUNICIPALITY OF THE PELAGOS PARTNERSHIP CHARTER

Municipalities and Unions of Municipalities within the Sanctuary area can actively participate in the protection of marine mammals and their habitats by signing the Pelagos Partnership Charter, a tool that allows the collaboration between the Pelagos Agreement and the Municipalities within the Sanctuary coastline, based on their competences.

DONATE TO THE PELAGOS AGREEMENT

Voluntary contributions to the “Pelagos Voluntary Fund” provide financial support for the implementation of activities within the Action Plan (2022-2027) and related Work Programmes of the Agreement.

If you wish to contribute to the activities of the Pelagos Sanctuary, you can choose the amount you prefer and the subject matter you want to support!
