Call for expressions of interest for the Pelagos Sanctuary Working Groups
The Permanent Secretariat is updating the composition of its Working Groups for the 2026–2027 biennium.
The experts of the Pelagos Agreement Working Groups provide scientific and technical expertise to assess the conservation status of marine mammals, analyse human-induced pressures, formulate recommendations to the Parties, and support evidence-based decisions and actions for the protection of the Pelagos Sanctuary.
The thematic groups include: WG Assessments; WG Impacts (SWG Shipping and Collisions, SWG Noise, SWG Pollution, SWG Fisheries, SWG Good Practices); WG SPAMIs-MPAs; WG Laws; WG Governance; and WG Communication.
Role and Responsibilities
The Secretariat is seeking active participation from Working Group members, including the sharing of expertise, observations, and technical contributions when requested. The selection of members will be based on the applicant’s motivation to join the relevant Working Group and on demonstrated expertise related to its thematic areas.
Application Process for new applicants
Interested applicants are invited to complete the application form by scanning the QR code and to submit their application documents to secretariat@pelagossanctuary.org no later than 5 July 2026.
Applications must be submitted in English via the QR code including:
- a Curriculum Vitae;
- a cover letter outlining the applicant’s motivation to join the relevant Pelagos Sanctuary Working Group;
- a declaration of absence of conflict of interest in relation to participation in the Working Group.

If you are already a member of a Working Group and wish to continue participating, please confirm your interest by completing the application form via the QR code.
Deadline Applications must be submitted no later than 5 July 2026.
