The Pelagos Agreement is strengthening access to and reuse of scientific knowledge on cetaceans in the Sanctuary through the Knowledge Management Platform (KMaP), developed and managed by INFO/RAC, the Regional Activity Centre for Information and Communication of UNEP/MAP.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024 between the Permanent Secretariat of the Pelagos Agreement and INFO/RAC, results from the Agreement’s scientific calls, including maps and geospatial data, are being integrated into KMaP.

The platform makes it possible to , visualize and share scientific data fostering reuse of them by the scientific community and other interested stakeholders. Datasets can be explored through interactive maps and consulted together with their metadata.  and related documents. Authorized users could also download the original dataset.

By using common standards, KMaP also promotes data interoperability, enabling information to be used through common GIS applications  and published in other compatible geoportals.
