Monaco, 2 July 2026

The Secretariat of the Pelagos Agreement participated in the third edition of the Ocean Space Forum, organised in Monaco by the Princely Government, the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) and Prométhée Earth Intelligence.

The event brought together representatives of international organisations, the scientific community, space agencies and the private sector to discuss the role of space technologies in improving knowledge of, protecting and conserving the ocean. Discussions focused in particular on the impacts of the climate crisis, ocean governance and emerging technological opportunities.

The Pelagos Agreement was represented by its Executive Secretary, Maria Betti. Sylvie Tambutté, Scientific Director of the Monaco Scientific Centre, and Maÿlis Salivas, Executive Secretary of ACCOBAMS, also took part in the event.

The meeting provided another opportunity to strengthen dialogue between scientific and institutional stakeholders and to highlight the importance of cooperation, knowledge sharing and access to data in improving the protection of marine biodiversity in the Mediterranean.

The participation of representatives from the Pelagos Agreement, ACCOBAMS and the Monaco Scientific Centre illustrates the diversity and complementarity of the expertise mobilised in support of marine conservation.
