COP24 – 24th Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention
The Pelagos Secretariat is attending the 24th Meeting of the Contracting Parties (COP24) to the Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean Marine Environment and the Coastal Region (Barcelona Convention) and its Protocols, taking place in Cairo, Egypt, from 2–5 December.
The Pelagos Agreement, MAP partner since 2023, actively participates in this key event through side-events and plenary sessions, where our Executive Secretary has voiced the Agreement’s priorities.
The COP marks, every two years, a crucial step for Mediterranean biodiversity, ecosystem restoration, and environmental governance. Several strategic decisions are expected to shape regional action over the coming decade, in line with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Permanent Secretariat takes part in the Adapt-Pelagos workshop on sustainable cruising in the Pelagos Sanctuary
On September 16, 2025, at the Yacht Club of Monaco, the Permanent Secretariat took part in the meeting organized as part of the Adapt-Pelagos project, actively contributing to the thematic workshop dedicated to sustainable cruising and recreational boating in the Pelagos Sanctuary.
